Keep them handy and review them carefully so you will be prepared. Step 2: Know the city’s driving rules Research some of the key driving rules that can change from city to city before driving. For example, some cities allow turning right on red while others do not. Step 3: Heed traffic signs Pay close attention to all traffic signs, especially those indicating one-way streets, construction zones, and highway entrance and exit ramps. Step 4: Know what’s happening in the city Know what might be going on in the city during the time you’re driving. Find out if there will be any events that might affect traffic, and listen to traffic reports on your car radio.
